Shan received his B.S. in Computational Mathematics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2014. Upon graduation, Shan taught Beginning Algebra to incoming freshmen at Bethune-Cookman University for two years. He began the M.S. program in Integrated Environmental Science at Bethune-Cookman University under NOAA-CCME sponsorship in January 2017. Shan interned at the Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services in Silver Spring, Maryland to complete his thesis titled “Investigating causes of changing tidal range and timing in U.S. harbors”.
