Cristina Madrid is a graduate student at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) and a NOAA Center for Coastal and Marine Ecosystems Scholar. This summer, she is completing an internship at the NOAA Office for Coastal Management in Silver Spring, Maryland and at the NOAA Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites within the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center in College Park, Maryland. At UTRGV she is pursuing an M.A. in Disaster Studies in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. Her graduate research involves measuring communication and influence among preparedness stakeholders in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas. Her areas of interest include hazard mitigation, coastal community resilience, social vulnerability, and emergency management. She received her B.S. in Business Administration from Berea College.
