Dr. Cheryl Logan

Dr. Cheryl Logan is a Professor in the Department of Marine Science at California State University, Monterey Bay. Her research group studies how ocean animals (invertebrates and fish) adaptively respond to climate change (warming, hypoxia, and acidification). They use this information to forecast which species may be the “winners” and “losers” under climate change and to inform conservation and management decisions. Dr. Logan was a contributing author to the 2022 IPCC report for Working Group II (Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability) and served on a 2019 National Academy of Sciences’ Committee on Interventions to Increase the Persistence and Resilience of Coral Reefs. She was also a U.S. Fulbright Scholar to the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador in 2019. In 2021, she was recognized as the CSU Monterey Bay Undergraduate Research Mentor of the Year. Dr. Logan received her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in Molecular & Cell Biology and Integrative Biology, and a Ph.D. in Biology from Stanford University.
