Dr. Milanika Turner

As an environmental sociologist, her research could be most simply described as explorations of the relationships between humans and their environments. Her career-long commitment to environmental sociology began with her work on natural hazards projects as an undergraduate student and her concern for environmental and climate justice has only grown since then. Her doctoral dissertation centered on environmental justice and the impact of uncontrolled environmental hazards (i.e., Superfunds) on urban communities that varied by race and class.
