Maya McWilliams

Maya McWilliams is an Honors Junior at Jackson State University where she is pursuing her BS in Biology with a minor in English. McWilliams is interested in environmental science, conservational biology, and public health. McWilliams is fascinated by the human impact on the environment and she aspires to reveal green methods that can improve the human condition in the environment by pursuing a career that allows her to combine research with science communication in an effort to increase public awareness and understanding of environmental issues. Maya is currently working with her NOAA-CCME mentor at JSU, Dr. Brent Thoma to study the impacts of microplastics on coastal ecosystems.
